Case Files from a PharmD Student: Where Textbooks Meet Real Patients
Introduction:
During my journey as a PharmD student, I’ve realized that medicine is far more than what we study in textbooks. Every patient tells a story- sometimes straightforward, sometimes unexpectedly complex.
This blog series is an attempt to document and reflect on real clinical cases I encounter during my hospital postings. Not as formal case reports, but as simplified, practical learning experiences.
Why This Series?
While case reports are valuable in academic medicine, they often take time and focus heavily on rare or novel findings. However, in day-to-day clinical practice, even common cases can offer powerful insights if observed closely.
Through this series, I aim to:
- Simplify clinical learning from real cases
- Strengthen my own understanding through reflection
- Share practical insights that may help students like me
Each post in this series will include:
- A brief patient presentation (without identifying details)
- Key clinical findings and thought process
- Differential diagnosis and final diagnosis
- Management approach
- Clinical insights and pharmacological perspective
- Personal learning takeaways
A Note on Ethics:
All cases shared here are anonymized. Any identifying details have been removed or modified to maintain patient confidentiality and professional integrity.
Who Is This For?
- PharmD students
- Medical and healthcare students
- Anyone interested in clinical learning made simple
This is not about being an expert—it’s about becoming one, case by case.
Let’s learn together.
